The first Sharia-compliant real estate financing company in Bahrain, Reef was established in the Kingdom of Bahrain in September 2005 with a paid-up capital of US$ 53 million. Major founding shareholders include Al Khaleej Development Company (Tameer), Global Investment House, and Ossis Property Developers. Reef offers funding for retail, commercial and investment purposes, with particular focus on enabling Bahraini and GCC citizens to purchase property at competitive rates.

Since commencing operations in April 2006, Reef has signed several agreements with major property developers in the Kingdom of Bahrain. These include Ossis Property Developers for Tala Island and Pearl Real Estate Company for Abraj Al Lulu.
